In 1926, the Key Road School was built by Juilius Rosenwald (of Sears and Roebuck) in collaboration with Booker T. WAshington to educate the Black youth in Portsmouth, VA. In 1971, the school transitioned into the Olympian Sports Club which sponsored Black youth athletics.
